Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Beacon ("the app") is a personal social coordination app that lets you signal friends
when you want to hang out or play together. This policy explains what data we collect,
how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
- Google account information — your name and email address, obtained via Google Sign-In, used to create and identify your account.
- Display name — shown to your friends inside the app.
- FCM token — a device token used exclusively to deliver push notifications to your device.
- App activity — beacons you create, groups you belong to, and responses you submit.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To authenticate you and maintain your session.
- To show your display name to friends you have added.
- To send you push notifications when a beacon is lit for a group you are in.
- To operate core app features (beacons, groups, friend connections).
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except:
- Google Firebase — used for authentication and push notification delivery.
- Legal requirements — if required by law.
4. Data Storage
Your data is stored on a self-hosted server located in the European Union.
We retain your data for as long as your account exists.
5. Your Rights
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen inside the app.
This permanently removes all your personal data, groups you own, and beacons you have created.
6. Children
Beacon is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. The latest version is always available at this URL.
